This artwork explores the first two stages of alchemy: Nigredo and Albedo. Nigredo, or the blackening, represents dissolution, decay, and the necessary breaking down of old forms, a moment of chaos that precedes transformation. Albedo, the whitening, follows as a stage of purification, clarity, and renewal, where insight and balance begin to emerge. Traditionally symbolized by a raven and a white swan, these stages align perfectly with my deep love for birds and the natural world, allowing the language of alchemy and nature to merge into a visual meditation on transformation.
